Color Inspiration: Mustard Yellow (Marigold)

I am certainly having a crush on mustard yellow this Fall (and I am not the only one; I've been seeing mustard and marigold hues in many of the designer collections this season). What do you think, is this a color you're willing to try out?

Living Bliss: Modern Yellow Kitchen

Sleek built-in stainless steel appliances, stainless steel counter tops, and an entire stainless steel kitchen isle (with double sink). . . That description would have made me say, "Nah, too much stainless steel." But you know what, it just works brilliantly, especially with the modern cabinetry and lighting. And just notice the entire wall dedicated to wine storage - clever and gorgeous!

Shoe Time: Sunny Mulberry Platforms

These delicious yellow cuties come from the Mulberry, Spring 2012 Campaign. I've always been a platform shoe girl, so looking at these makes me feel like a kid in a candy store, all over again.
The patent leather in lemon-sherbet yellow is absolutely delicious and the rope-wrapped platform has a lovely beach feel to it! The platform and heal measure 2 and 5 inches, respectively. Perfect!

Living Bliss: Interior Imitating Art

I really love this painting! It's the sort of vibrant piece of art that, if you love enough, can be the inspiration for the whole living space . . . like is the case here. White, yellow, pink and red add a lot of fun character to this place.

Nursery Inspiration: Lemons in the Snow

Snow white furniture and simple modern lines, counterbalanced by the lemon-yellow pattern on the walls. It's really fresh and makes me crave lemonade.

 

Color Inspiration: Bright Yellow

I like trying on new colors and patterns, but when it comes to certain colors and styles I've always been very conservative. . . or, I should probably say, my philosophy has been: 'Avoid at all cost!'

Neon/bright yellow, for example, has been one of those 'no no's for me . . .  Until I saw these photographs from Olivia Graham.

Decorating with Colors: Hello Yellow!

Yellow has always been a difficult color for me. Yes, difficult. It's not that I don't like yellow - I love it! It's bright and fresh, and delicious, but I never seem to know what to do with it. I am still learning to wear it and still learning to decorate with it. Here is what I've learned when it comes to home decoration.

This is very brave indeed: mixing so many different tones of yellow, but determined interior designer can pull it off successfully.

 I love this Corrigan Chair in Dark Yellow linen from Anthropologie!

I love this! Introducing the color in a carpet pattern, that is not too overwhelming, but you still have the sunny effect from the pop of yellow. It's a beautiful pattern, too.

This is such a delicious nuance of pale yellow. In a main entrance door, it just says: "Sunny people inside!"

Wall art in yellow is about the easiest way to use the color for decoration (well, after flowers, that is). This specifically was a Do-It-Yourself project here.

Bright yellow art piece or an accent chair.

I have a soft spot for accent chairs and I absolutely love this one!

Basically, you can paint any old furniture piece in yellow.
