Akris, Pre-Fall 2011

These are my favorite picks form Akris, the Pre-Fall 2011 collection: picture perfect all-black outfits, perfectly-fitted trousers, knee-long skirts, ankle boots and a dominating earth palette.
Some of the emerging trends for Fall 2011 include tailored suits, earth tones, black, black and more black in the outfits. Stay tuned for many more Pre-Fall collections.

Decorating with Colors: Hello Yellow!

Yellow has always been a difficult color for me. Yes, difficult. It's not that I don't like yellow - I love it! It's bright and fresh, and delicious, but I never seem to know what to do with it. I am still learning to wear it and still learning to decorate with it. Here is what I've learned when it comes to home decoration.
This is very brave indeed: mixing so many different tones of yellow, but determined interior designer can pull it off successfully.
I love this Corrigan Chair in Dark Yellow linen from Anthropologie!
I love this! Introducing the color in a carpet pattern, that is not too overwhelming, but you still have the sunny effect from the pop of yellow. It's a beautiful pattern, too.
This is such a delicious nuance of pale yellow. In a main entrance door, it just says: "Sunny people inside!"
Wall art in yellow is about the easiest way to use the color for decoration (well, after flowers, that is). This specifically was a Do-It-Yourself project here.
Bright yellow art piece or an accent chair.

I have a soft spot for accent chairs and I absolutely love this one!
Beautiful yellow headboard!
Lovely!
Basically, you can paint any old furniture piece in yellow.

This one is coming from the lovely Lucy from Lucy Laucht:  a knee-long pleated skirt in a beautiful, rich ink blue, paired with a casual white tee, nude peep-toe pumps, belt and bulky accessories. Finish the look with a casual updo, side bun or chignon.

Happy Weekend!

With the hurricane approaching, I just hope it's not as bad as it sounds. I plan to stay home, enjoy a good read and a movie and I'm not letting go of my happy thoughts.
Be safe!

Shoe Time: Crystal-encrusted sandals

Black suede sandals covered in crystals? Yep, that ought to turn some heads. Beautiful work from Pierre Hardy, but comes with the impressive price tag of 2k and change. Yikes!

Hair Inspiration & DIY: Romantic Updo

I've always loved the half and half updo. I think it's very romantic and flattering, but also easy to make. It's an elegant hairstyle, without trying too hard to be one.
This step by step tutorial from Martha Stewart Weddings may be helpful.
Step 1: Dry your hair and create loose curls, from the ears down. You can use a large-barrel curling iron. (If your hair can't really hold curls, use some leave-in product for extra hold.)
Step 2: Run your fingers through the curls to loosen and separate them.
Step 3: Spray your roots with hairspray, starting halfway down the part and finishing at the crown.
Step 4: Tease the sprayed hair with a fine-tooth comb, in order to create height and volume.
Step 5: Use a soft brush to smooth the teased hair and then gather the sides into a ponytail.
Step 6: Secure the sides in place, using pins. Shape the curls with your fingers. Use a hairspray to smooth out the whole look and give it extra lasting powers. (Martha Stewart Weddings recommend John Frieda's Frizz-Ease 100% Shine Gloss Mist.)

Decoration Ideas: Birch wood and Flowers centerpiece

I love birch wood! It is so unique and beautiful. Place a vase into birch wood to create a simple, but stunningly beautiful centerpiece for a summer gathering.

Glitz Bliss in on Tumblr

Hello everyone!

Just a quick update: Glitz Bliss is now on Tumblr {http://glitzbliss.tumblr.com/}
Join me there to see my daily inspiration board . . . because we all need more beauty and bliss in our lives.

Have a great week!

Living Bliss: Simplicity

I admire the simplicity and minimalism in this condo. (I've been decluttering my place recently and I am amazed about how many things we tend to accumulate. But in the end, too many thing turn into distractions. It's time to start clean!)
Back to this place . . . Simple, clean lines, white walls and kitchen cabinets, minimal accessorizing and no wall art! I could never keep my walls like that (I need my paintings!), but I still admire the clean face of this living space.
The balcony is probably my favorite part of this apartment. Who needs paintings when they have that view?!

Decoration Ideas: Lemon Vase Centerpiece

Place lemon slices or halved lemons inside vases or mason jars, to create a fresh and lovely centerpiece. Combine with bright flowers for extra color flare, or white flowers to accentuate the bright yellow of the lemons and the pure white of the flowers. This idea is perfect for summer events!
