Lovely or Not? Insect earrings.

I saw these Magicicada Earrings at ModCloth. These are polished brass, life-size representation of the insect Cicada. Its peculiar life cycle holds fascination among biologists, but does not hold great aesthetic value for me personally. I don't make good friends with bugs and I am really hesitant about putting one on my ear, even one made from brass. What do you think?

Lovely or Not: The ring and the motorcycle

Mod Cloth have all sorts of items, some are fun, some are fabulous, but some are pretty bizarre. 

This ring had the story The ring and the motorcycle ... "Do you feel the need for speed? Put your fashion pedal to the metal by slipping on this cute and edgy ring! Its brushed silver mouse is decked with sparkling rhinestones, which match the glimmer you get in your eye when you and your friends are out for a spin. Wear it to spruce up a cute tee by day, or to catch flashing lights by night!"

Did you just go: "Huh" or "What!?" I know this was my reaction. The little mouse is actually cute, but I'm not entirely sure if I want it on my ring. What is really mind-boggling, however, is how is any of that related to motorcycles? It's a mystery...

High waist bikini: Lovely or Not?

The summer is rapidly approaching (not that you could really tell from a dark and chilly day like today). So most of of us begin to think of vacation time, beaches, exotic places, exciting trips or whatever else this summer may have in store for you. If you need a bathing suit, consider this, the high waist bikini may be baking a comeback! First we saw the high waist pencil skirt conquer all, but now this? I have never been one to love high waist bikini. I just don't think it looks flattering, regardless of your body type. Even if you have completely flat abs, or even a six pack, and perfect hips, the high waist bikini just adds volume to the area.

This Bantu High Waist Printed Bikini is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. I've really tried to keep an open mind, but I just can't stomach the high waist bikini piece.

Lovely or Not? Tangled odds and ends necklace

It's true that the fashion trend for Spring/Summer 2010 emphasized oversized jewelry items, but where is the line where oversized becomes hideous? This Juicy Couture Tangled Pompom Necklace might be just testing the limits? As stated on their website, "this tangled mixed-media necklace makes a nold artistic statment", but is the world ready for a statement as bold as this one.
I like the mixed silvertone and golden chains. I even like the combination of rhinestones, the logo charms and the pearlescent beads, but the pompoms and tassels ruined it for me.
